What is a Biodegradable bag?
One of the best things that you can do for your environment is to start going “green” and learning more about what is a biodegradable bag and how you can make better choices with these products.
Bags that are made from natural materials such as cotton are ones that can be very eco-friendly, but they are also the type that you can use to wrap and store food in.
Food that is stored in these bags can be used over again without it decomposing or being destroyed. You can also use these bags for a variety of other purposes as well, including camping trips, hiking, and fishing.
The way that these bags get their name is because they are able to break down into smaller pieces when they are exposed to sunlight, heat, and water.
These little bits of information can help you to know what is a biodegradable bag so that you will know what type of plastic bag or biodegradable bag you need to use.
Bags that are made from paper bags cannot be recycled or broken down without destroying the paper. There is no way to know what will happen after these bags have been disposed of, but you can use these bags instead.
A biodegradable bag will last for many years if you handle them properly. You can use them to store food and to wrap gifts. You can also find websites online that offer these products in many different styles and colors.
Once you find a biodegradable bag that you want to use, you will be amazed at all of the different ways in which you can use these products around the house and to go out with your friends and family.
Degradable & Non-degradable
So you are wondering what’s the difference between biodegradable and non-degradable bags? In short, they’re all the same. A biodegradable bag is made up of plastic, possibly in the form of a grain or plant material, which will degrade over time and then be recycled for use again. Non degradable bags are made from a different material altogether, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that breaks down into smaller molecules the more it is exposed to air, water, heat and light, the so that it becomes inert and releases nothing at all. The only way these types of bags can degrade is if they are washed with water or even chemicals, but then again this only means that the molecules within the bags are slightly different, which means that they can still degrade normally.
What's the Difference?
So, why the big difference between the two? Well, it seems that the biggest reason is because of degradable bags don’t provide any benefit other than making the manufacture of paper cheaper, and therefore helping the environment out. Biodegradable bags on the other hand, by providing an environmentally friendly means of recycling waste, and by not releasing toxic chemicals into the air, offer a great deal of benefits to society and the planet. So which is better?
The answer of course, is that it depends on your situation. If you’re throwing away food items in bulk but you don’t feel like having long conversations with people about the ethics of eating grass, then a biodegradable bag is a great way to go.
However
There’s no point in collecting hundred of these bags to send to charities, since once you get them they will sit around in your garage or home until they degrade. You may also feel that you don’t want to make a habit of sending these bags to charities, so you would be better off buying a non-degradable type. Whichever way you go though, it’s important to remember what the main differences between the two are, and how each one can help our world.
